Temp mail for Steam: what works and what doesn't

Read this before you rely on it
Steam is a storefront that can hold real money, games, and payment methods — which changes the calculus. Two honest warnings:
- Account recovery depends on the email. If you buy games or add funds, that account has real value — and Steam Support leans heavily on the registered email to verify ownership. A 30-minute inbox that no longer exists can lock you out permanently. For anything you'll spend money on, verify with a temp address and then switch to a permanent email in Steam settings, or use a Premium 30-day inbox.
- Steam Guard may still want more. Trading and Market access often require the mobile authenticator and a wait period regardless of email. A temp email gets you an account; it doesn't bypass Steam's fraud controls.
Good uses vs. bad uses
A disposable email is great for a free, low-stakes account you won't attach a wallet to. It's a poor choice as the only credential on an account you'll spend money on. Match the tool to the stakes.
